depends on how healthy the players return after two weeks.

The one game I never bet on, past performances seem to go out of the window with United vs Liverpool its a real wild card. If I had to though – over 2.5 goals + United win.

October 5, 2017 at 12:22 pm

I’m a Liverpool fan. I think that despite our past successes against top 6 opposition, we will lose this game by 2+ goals.

Morale has only gone down as the season has progressed, with our defense being cut apart by much lesser teams. We’ve won 1 of 7 since Sep. 9th, during that time not once having a clean sheet.

Furthermore, our attacking players have lost any goalscoring form that we had going into the season. United have looked too dominant to think that these trends will change at Anfield after the int’l break. United should put one in early and Liverpool will roll over, opening the floodgates.

That all being said, Liverpool have the opportunity to regroup and reevaluate their strategy during this and next week, which could lead them to play well. But, thus far, I haven’t seen any indication that Liverpool can get out of this slump. Defense too spineless, attackers not confident.

i havent really looked into the stats but just by form and from watching the two teams, i find it hard to see anything but a united win here.. might take up a DC united or draw just to be safe.

liverpool’s defense are just plain awful and united are free scoring at the moment

October 5, 2017 at 12:22 pm

Mourinho is typically defensive in these big games and will look to win 1-0 and be happy with that.

Fellaini anytime may be worth a bet. Liverpool’s defence struggles against the higher ball and I think Mourinho will target that with lukaku aswell.

October 5, 2017 at 12:22 pm

Anytime goal scorers always interest me in games like this. But hard until teams are out I suppose

October 5, 2017 at 12:22 pm

Out of curiosity, how are you modeling predicted goals? Are you only using past head-to-head as your inputs, or are you also incorporating recent form? Expected goal per player? My model has the EV of all three overs at higher, and am just curious. I could certainly be wrong (and although United has been a great bet all year, this is a stay-away for me).

October 5, 2017 at 12:22 pm

I think u3.5 is the best play here

October 5, 2017 at 12:22 pm

I gotta be honest here. At first glance, I like Liverpool in this spot. A lot of times, squads come back from break refreshed or of different mindset. This can be both positive or negative depending on the club and its form. I don’t think it will be a draw regardless of what past statistics suggest. I also get an inkling that Oxlade-Chamberlain may net his first goal for the Reds in this match so I might take a shot in the dark and put some down on him for anytime goalscorer.

The fixture is still some 10 days out though so it’s a tad too early to speculate all that much yet.

October 5, 2017 at 12:22 pm

why are you discussing this two weeks before

Soccer Predictions

Liverpool fans had high hopes for the 2017/18 campaign with the return of the injured Sadio Mane and the arrival of Mohamed Salah, not to mention them holding on to the in-demand Phillipe Coutinho. So far their high hopes haven’t been met though, and it’s already looking like another sub-par Premier League performance is on the horizon.

Before the international break, they played out a 1-1 draw away to Newcastle to continue their patch of poor form. The Anfield outfit has now won just one of their last seven matches in all competitions, drawing four times and losing twice. Overall this season they have won five, drawn five, and lost two and find themselves out of the League Cup and in a poor position in their Champions League group.

To make matters worse, Sadio Mane has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury sustained on international duty, putting a lot of pressure on the likes of Coutinho, Salah, and Firmino to fill his boots.

In fairness to Liverpool, their problems rarely lie up front. They have scored in all but two of their games this season, but they have conceded 20 times in just 12 games and only kept two clean sheets. Both of those came in their early season good form, leaving them without a clean sheet in seven games now.

Manchester United will be relishing the opportunity to take advantage of this too, and they definitely have the firepower to do so. The visitors have notched a huge 32 goals in their ten competitive games so far this season, failing to score in none of them and winning all but one of them.

Admittedly their fixture list hasn’t been filled with tough matches, but it’s been a very impressive start to the season which has left them 2nd in the Premier League and top of their Champions League group.

Many of their goals have come from the newly signed Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian forward has scored ten goals in nine matches for his new club and looks unstoppable at the moment, so backing him to find the net against the defensively weak Liverpool looks a great choice for our goalscorer predictions.

Betting Tips

As far as the overall match goes through, here is our betting tips for this game. We’re not expecting the visitors to keep Liverpool at bay. They have been solid at the back this season, but Stoke exposed their vulnerabilities at the bet365 Stadium to draw 2-2 and their other opponents haven’t exactly been attack-minded sides. Liverpool has scored 12 goals in their five games at Anfield this season and is yet to fail to find the net, but given their defensive frailties, they are unlikely to keep the rampant visitors at bay as well. Backing Both Teams to Score with 1.688 odds from 1X Bet looks the best choice in this situation.

If you still wanmt another betting tips, for all of Liverpool’s struggles at the moment they are still a tough side to beat. They are yet to lose at Anfield and their last three meetings with Manchester United have ended all square. Considering four of their last six outings in all competitions have ended as draws, backing another stalemate here at 3.38 odds from 1X Bets looks an attractive bet alongside a 2-2 correct score prediction.

Liverpool v Man Utd Tips

betting liverpool v man utd

Liverpool have been hit and miss this season, excellent wins at home to Arsenal and away to Leicester have been tempered with 3 disappointing draws against teams that an EPL title contender would have expected to win.

The main issue seems to be their wastefulness in front of goal. Liverpool have had the most shots of any Premier League team (137) yet have only scored 13 goals, which is way behind Manchester City and their rivals today Manchester United. Excellent approach play by the midfield is being wasted. Liverpool are in 7th place with 12 points.

Manchester United on the other hand are as efficient as you would expect from a Jose Mourinho team. In many games they have done just enough and managed the game to the managers strict orders.

Manchester United have had 6 clean sheets in 7 games, a testament to that organisational brilliance. They may not be as free flowing a team as in the Ferguson years but the title looks a real possibility for the first time in 5 seasons.

The Red Devils are in 2nd hot on the heels of their light blue noisy neighbours.

5 Match Form Man Utd Liverpool v Man Utd Match Preview

Most football tipsters know the style of these 2 managers, they have both been managing long enough for fans to know how they are going to approach this game. Liverpool as the home team will dominate the opening phases, they will go forward in wave after wave spurred on by a vociferous home crowd. There is no more fierce rivalry than Liverpool v United and we expect blood and thunder from Liverpool.

United will sit back and look to soak up pressure. Fellani missing is a blow for United as he spoils a lot of opposition attacks with his defensive capabilities, Herrera will probably step in and he will be asked to play deeper in the Fellani role.

We do not expect much from United in the opening 30 minutes as they look to frustrate and blunt Klopp’s team. The excitement of the match will depend on if Liverpool score in the opening 30 minutes, if they do a more open game will ensue.

If they don’t Utd will creep into the game using Martial and or Rashford to make the pitch bigger and its likely Lukaku will be more of a threat the longer the game goes on, the Belgian striker has scored the majority of his goals in the 2nd half of games, (5 of 7).

The game for the neutral depends on Liverpool scoring early.

Liverpool need to win to have any chance of keeping tabs on the top 2, United will not want to slip behind Manchester City by dropping 2 points, with City expected to beat Stoke in their 3.00 PM game.

The dynamics of the second half should be completely different with both teams searching for a winner, United may finish more strongly if previous Utd matches are anything to go by, they have scored 14 of 21 goals in the second half.

A likely scenario is that Liverpool will not lose the 1st half and Man Utd will not lose the 2nd half. The OLBG Liverpool blogger predicts a stalemate of 1-1 with players not at their sharpest after the international break.

Football tips on that 1-1 will get betting odds from the bookmakers of around 6/1, the 90-minute draw is on offer at 9/4.

Liverpool v Man Utd Injury News

Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana are still missing for the home team and they need them back sooner rather than later.

It has just been reported that Sadio Mane has picked up a hamstring injury on international duty, a real blow for Liverpool.

Phil Jones is a doubt for United. Fellaini, Rojo, Pogba and Ibrahimovic are on the injured list.

NetBet Offer, Liverpool v Man Utd, 25 Free Spins

betting liverpool v man utd NetBet Offer- Liverpool v Man Utd

Event Start Time (GMT): 17/01/2016 : 14:05

Liverpool will fancy their chances against Manchester United on Sunday and NetBet are getting in on the action. Place a bet of at least £5.00 on the Exact Score or First Goalscorer Market for Liverpool v Manchester United and NetBet will give us 25 Free Spins on Casino game, Starburst! Translated into matched betting terms, this gives us a low-risk shot at a big potential profit and here’s how…

We must opt-in on the promotion page and bet at least £5.00 on either the Exact Score or First Goalscorer to be eligible for this promotion.

If you’re unfamiliar with qualifying bets, please see my Qualifying Bet Strategy page for a walk-through guide on how it should be done.

Having looked at the odds available, I’ve opted to place my qualifying bet on a 1-1 draw.

I like to place my exchange lay bets with Smarkets as they have great liquidity, the site is really easy to use and they only charge 2% commission in comparison to the 5% charged by other betting exchanges.

We can calculate our lay stakes using my matched betting calculator…

As you can see, the calculator tells us that our lay stake should be £3.96…

Place £5.00 on a 1-1 draw @ 5.85 = Potential profit of £24.25

Lay £3.96 on a 1-1 draw @ 7.40 = Potential liability of £25.37

Let’s have a look at our potential profit/loss for the possible outcomes…

So regardless of the result of match, we will lose £1.12 in qualifying for our 25 free spins.

Our 25 free spins will be credited as casino bonus money to our account by 12:00 the following day and will be valid for 2 days on either Starburst and/or Starburst Touch. Our bonus money must be wagered 40 times before we are able to withdraw it.

It’s difficult to quantify how profitable this offer is. With such a large rollover, it’s likely that many of us will lose our casino bonus before the rollover is met, however, if we get a good start, there is also the possibility of making big profits (£50.00+). So, for just a £1.12 risk, the potential profit makes this NetBet offer well worth doing.

* I won a small amount using my free spins but this was lost during the rollover process, meaning I made a loss of £1.12 on this offer. *

Giving Netbet a rest until they can finally pay me my £600 I requested last weekend.

Placed my bet yesterday but no free spins? Does it mean by 12 tomorrow after the match?

No sign of the free spins yet.

I contacted customer services and they said it should be credited by 6pm. Surprise surprise. no spins yet.
