Nicki Minaj may have cleared up her bad blood with Taylor Swift when she opened the VMAs on Sunday night — but when she accepted the award for Best Hip-Hop Video she sparked a (faux?) feud with the night’s host, Miley Cyrus.
When she went up on stage, the rapper made sure to give a shoutout to all the pretty girls and dudes making money and randomly (her words) thanked her pastor. But things changed when she turned to an unsuspecting Cyrus and said, “Let’s get back to this b***h who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press. Miley, what’s good?!” (We see that smirk, though.)
Even I almost think this was still scripted stuff…..BUT, we were about to have our first #VMAs fight ever, lol pic.twitter.com/bkOIUoQq20
Minaj was referring to an answer the “Bangerz” singer gave in an interview to The New York Times. When asked about her thoughts on the whole Minaj-Swift twitter feud, she responded, “If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: ‘This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type.'”
She continued, “What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love.”
So basically, she called Minaj rude.
But on stage, Cyrus stayed calm and responded by saying the comments were just a result of the media manipulating her words. She went on to congratulate Minaj for winning.
But who are we kidding: The whole spat was likely scripted, and the two women are probably going to hug it out when they close the show together.
Nicki Minaj took home the VMA for Best Hip-Hop Video for her “Anaconda” clip on Sunday night, but not without brewing up some controversy first. While Minaj already took advantage of the night to end one beef, she wasn’t going to let another one die so easily. Toward the end of her acceptance speech, Minaj called out host Miley Cyrus for comments she made earlier in the week in which she blamed Minaj for her end of the infamous Nicki-Taylor Swift beef, and called her “not polite.”
It’s unclear whether the moment was scripted or not, but Miley didn’t seem too caught off guard and handled it pretty well, coming back with a reply about how the press twists words. Either way, the VMAs basically morphed into a WWE event for a quick minute. Miley better watch what she says going forward, or Nicki may RKO her at the next awards show.

"Watch Nicki Minaj Call Out Miley Cyrus During Her VMAs Acceptance Speech"
Who cares, Nicki Minaj is fake as fuck, from her fake tits and ass to her fake accent.
I’m about to see that face in all of my feeds.
How can anybody take someone who looks like she walks around with 2 watermelons on her backside seriously? That thing is so comically big it’s not even close to attractive. Her and Kim K are going to regret all the work they had done when they’re older, I guarantee that.
Speak for yourself.
Probably made up to sell albums/get ratings.
Who really gives a serious shit about Nicki Minaj…
This is so obviously scripted it hurts..
I’ve honestly been liking Miley more and more over the past few months.
She’s great up until she starts creating more music. Then it’s just terrible.
Me too. But she kind of lost me a little with her response. Also, it didn’t help that she was dressed like an idiot whereas Nicki looked fine as hell. *bites knuckle*
All I want to say is like a friend of pointed out, check Nicki Net Worth, then check Miley Net Worth.
Nicki 50-60mil vs Miley 160mil. You do the math, now who looks STUPID!
Nicki smirks the second after she finishes ‘calling miley out’. She literally grins all ‘wooo this is fun!’
It’s a set up.If Nicki wanted to wreck this kid she would have,
Well let’s not forget that they are both actors.. Either way Miley is going nowhere but up.
Mileys reaction is pretty funny. You can tell it’s sincere as she attempts to cover her giant horse teeth with her lips. That ship sailed a long time ago.
"And now, back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press," rapper says after winning Best Hip-Hop video
Nicki Minaj ended her acceptance speech for Best Hip-Hop Video at the Video Music Awards by thanking her pastor, then cursing out Miley Cyrus, passing it back to the host with the curt: "And now, back to this bitch who had a lot to say about me the other day in the press: Miley, What's good?"
Kanye's stunning speech, Miley's free nipple and more highs and lows from MTV's explosive night
Minaj was referring to Cyrus' remarks about how the rapper handled being snubbed for Video of the Year. After learning that "Anaconda" had been shut out of the category, the rapper wrote on Twitter, "If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year. I'm not always confident. Just tired. Black women influence pop culture so much, but are rarely rewarded for it."
Cyrus suggested to The New York Times that Minaj had not effectively used the snub to talk about race and gender in the music industry, but rather made the moment about herself. "If you do things with an open heart and you come at things with love, you would be heard and I would respect your statement. But I don't respect your statement because of the anger that came with it," Cyrus said. "And it's not anger like, 'Guys, I'm frustrated about some things that are a bigger issue.' You made it about you. Not to sound like a bitch, but that's like, 'Eh, I didn't get my VMA.'"
After Minaj's taunt, Cyrus, stunned, replied, "We're all in this industry. We all do interviews and we all know how they manipulate shit. Nicki, congratu-fuckin-lations." The camera then cut back to Minaj who seemed to mouth back, "Bitch."
After Minaj's remarks at the VMAs, Cyrus resumed the show by noting that voting was still open for the Artist to Watch Award. "I lost this award back in 2008," Cyrus said, frustrated, and turning towards Minaj. "Whatever. Because it's no big deal! It's just an award, and I persevered!"Don’t Miss a Story

It seems like this year's VMAs were all about the fight, online as well as offline. While about over a month ago Nicki Minaj got engaged in a twitter beef with fellow singer Taylor Swift, this time the 'The Night Is Still Young' singer got into a verbal spat with host Miley Cyrus.
What led to this spat is the interview in which Miley called Nicki's spat with Taylor incorrect and impolite. Cyrus reportedly said in an interview that the sensitive topic of misrepresentation and under representation of Black artists was turned into a totally personal issue and that's not right.
Now it was Nicki's chance to respond and she did it in her own style. After accepting her award for Best Hip Hop artist, she said, "And now back to this b***h who had a lot to say about me in the press."
While the crowd went silent, Miley tried to play it cool and said her words were manipulated by the press, shouted more indirect jabs at Minaj while congratulating her, and went back to hosting the show.
Well, this whole might be a staged drama to cash in the recent music world 'cat-fights'. At least for now there's a lot of heat circulating around this episode and we hope the 'queen-bees' of music world sought it out as soon as possible.
When Miley Cyrus announced that she would be hosting this year's Video Music Awards on MTV, the provocative singer promised it would be the craziest one ever. But I don't think Miley imagined that the most memorable moment of the entire evening would involve her being brutally called out by another artist in front of millions of viewers.
That artist was none other than Nicki Minaj, who made headlines recently for criticizing the VMA nominations that excluded her video "Anaconda" for the top prize and also foregrounded white, slim artists. You may remember Taylor Swift throwing her opinion in on that scuffle, but those two artists quickly managed to mop up any bad blood like friendly adults.
The same cannot be said for Miley and Nicki, and when the rapper took to the stage to accept her award for Best Hip-Hop Video, the rest needs to be seen to be believed.Nicki had some strong words for Miley in this tense exchange
Yikes. Public shaming is always rough to watch, but there seems to be some genuine anger overflowing in this one.
The "press" that Nicki references was an interview Miley recently did with The New York Times. They asked her opinion on Nicki's issues with the nominations, and though Miley tried to deflect all the blame to the media at the VMAs, she clearly had some pointed words for the outspoken rapper:
What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love. You don’t have to start this pop star against pop star war. It became Nicki Minaj and Taylor in a fight, so now the story isn’t even on what you wanted it to be about. Now you’ve just given E! News “Catfight! Taylor and Nicki Go at It.”
In arguably her most egregious attack on how Nicki was "making it all about her," Miley declares that Nicki didn't confront the issue of race the right way:
If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: “This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There’s girls everywhere with this body type."
Clearly, as evidenced by the very public takedown, Nicki wasn't having it. Because of all the buzz it immediately generated, some viewers questioned the authenticity of this excruciating moment. However, to all those wondering if it was staged, take a look at Miley's reaction as she hears the biting words.Miley's jaw hitting the floor speaks volumes
You can see that "What's good, Miley?" hitting the host like a wrecking ball. Honestly, I think that's the most genuine moment from the VMA's since Diana Ross jiggled Lil Kim's bare breast.
Even if it was staged, the unbearable tension still felt palpable.Immediately after taking down Miley, Nicki Minaj tweeted her delight to the masses
Later in the night, Nicki came out to perform with Taylor Swift, proving that this pair really buried the hatchet. Later, Taylor tweeted Nicki with a proclamation of love.
Considering this whole scandal started when Taylor butt her head in, I like to imagine that she realizes that this could have been her if she hadn't apologized. She took the high road and then watched Miley who learned what happens when you insult Nicki Minaj to the press.
In the end, no matter if you're Team Miley or Team Nicki or even if you think this was entirely scripted, you've gotta admit this was one of the most memorable VMAs moments to occur in a long time.
